Janice started the long hard vigil of seeking grant funding (£60,000) for park enhancements and within 11 months, 10 pieces of new, mainly inclusive play equipment had been added to the central play park on Sworder’s Field, Bishop’s Stortford. JE Indoor Space The Bishop’s Stortford Town Plan indicated that “activities for young people” was graded “most important” by 35% of respondents. From here, the Youth Café idea was born. This project has been handed to The Community Church, The Charis Centre as they had a vision for such a Café. To find out more about this exciting project, click here. JE Outdoor Space The
Vision of Bishop’s Stortford in 2020 includes “the Town has an excellent
swimming pool and ample facilities for team sports” and “variety of leisure
activities for all age groups”.
The objective is to enhance the leisure facilities and to provide a
sporting choice within a reasonable distance. A fence has been added to the paddling pool area in August 2012 of which The Big Lottery funded c.£10,000 and East Herts District Council c.£1,500. The Finance and General Purposes Committee support the idea of keeping and enhancing the Bishop's Stortford paddling pool. This would be a c. £80,000 project.
